Arabic Subtitles is operated by P4LM inc., based in Montréal, Québec, Canada. Contact support@kalemio.app for privacy, account, or billing requests.
The website
File inspection happens locally. After your explicit upload action, only the selected audio track, normalized as audio samples, is sent to private Cloudflare storage and the Kalemio transcription service. For translation jobs, the generated subtitle text is then sent through a translation route configured for zero data retention and no automatic fallback. Video frames and original filenames are not uploaded. No public gallery is created.
Unsubmitted audio expires after one hour. Working audio and temporary recognition results are deleted after processing; cleanup retries service outages. Your completed transcript and saved subtitle corrections expire seven days after completion. You can delete a project earlier. A cancellation may not stop computation already in progress, but deleted content cannot become an accessible result.
There is no password-based account. The email you give at checkout receives your finished SRT and a one-time link to verify ownership of your minute bank. After verification, that email can restore the bank on another device. Stripe handles payment; card details never reach this site. A project is opened by a separate secret link, so treat that link as the key to your subtitles. Operational logs omit audio, transcript text and original filenames; purchase records remain for accounting and support. Each project's service record notes when its upload started, when it was paid and completed, and when its SRT was downloaded. While analytics is on, it also notes the page language, whether the device is a phone, tablet or computer, and the page on this site where the visit started. For free minutes, the site keeps a salted hash of your network that changes every UTC day, records whether a free claim was refused and why, and notes when a later upload from the same network on the same day was quoted after free minutes were used. Cloudflare Turnstile checks each free claim. We review these records, without email addresses, in a private owner-only dashboard to find where uploads and payments fail.
We do not use your recordings or corrections to train models or build advertising profiles. We use privacy-limited analytics and ad conversion measurement with storage disabled: it measures page paths and general actions without a persistent user identifier and may send cookieless signals to measure whether an ad led to a purchase. It receives no filenames, subtitle text, audio, your email, or card details. The site also keeps its own daily counts of steps such as choosing a file, preparing it and seeing a price, by page language, device type, starting page, recording length range and error type. These counts carry no identifier and are not sent to Google; this tab's session storage remembers which steps were already counted until the tab is closed. Visits from the owner's own networks and test sessions are counted separately. Use Analytics settings in the footer to turn measurement off; clearing this site's data resets that choice. Personalized advertising remains disabled. To request deletion of a project, or of the purchase records kept for accounting, contact support@kalemio.app.
The Arabic Subtitles: Captions iPhone app
This section covers the Arabic Subtitles: Captions app for iPhone and the Kalemio service it uses at api.kalemio.app. The app has its own account and minutes, separate from the website.
Your account
The app creates an anonymous account the first time it needs our service. It does not ask for your name, email address or phone number. Apple App Attest lets our service check that requests come from a genuine copy of the app, and we keep your device's attestation key with the account.
Sign in with Apple is optional. Linking it lets you recover the account and its minute balance after reinstalling the app or on a new iPhone, and the app may ask you to link it before you buy minutes. The app requests neither your name nor your email address; our service stores only a secret-keyed digest of your Apple account identifier.
What leaves your iPhone
Your projects live on your iPhone. When you start a transcription, the app extracts the audio track on the device and uploads only that audio. The video and your edits stay on the device, and projects are not synced to any cloud.
When you ask for a translation, the app sends the caption text to translate, with the names and terms you saved, through our service to OpenRouter. Every request requires a zero-data-retention route and refuses providers that collect data.
Video and audio are excluded from your iPhone's backups. Brand kits, saved corrections and style history are included only if you turn on the backup switch in Settings → Privacy.
How long we keep it
Uploaded audio is deleted from our storage as soon as the transcript is saved, and is never kept more than 24 hours. The service's copy of a transcript is deleted after seven days; the app keeps its own copy in the project. Translated captions may be cached for up to 30 days so the same text is not translated twice.
Transcription runs on our own servers and on RunPod GPU servers. They receive the audio to process the job and are not meant to keep it afterwards, but we have not yet verified the deletion of their temporary files end to end. Until we have, do not submit confidential recordings.
Our service records job facts without content, such as durations, statuses and error codes. Logs contain no audio and no caption text.
Purchases
Apple processes payment through In-App Purchase; we never see your card details. RevenueCat receives the anonymous account identifier and your purchase records so our service can credit your minutes. It receives no audio, video or caption text.
Analytics and tracking
The app contains no advertising, no third-party analytics and no crash-reporting service; its diagnostics stay in your device's console. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your app recordings or captions to train models.
Deleting your data
Delete a project in the app to remove it from your iPhone. Delete cloud content in Settings → Privacy erases uploaded audio, transcription jobs, server transcripts and translation data, and keeps your account and minutes.
Delete account erases the account, its devices and Apple link, its jobs and cloud content, its usage history and its unused minutes, which cannot be restored afterwards. Local projects stay on your iPhone.
For payment disputes, refunds, tax and security audits and fraud prevention, we keep one restricted, pseudonymized record for seven years: the plan, minute totals, and secret-keyed digests of purchase references and retired App Attest keys. It holds no account, device, Apple or transaction identifier and no content, and is then deleted automatically. Cloudflare's disaster-recovery history can hold deleted rows for up to 30 days.
To get a copy of your data, correct it, or make any other privacy request, email support@kalemio.app.
