What Is an SRT File and How Do You Make One for Arabic Video?
An SRT file is a plain-text subtitle file: each cue has a number, a start and end time, and the words shown on screen. Arabic SRT files work well when the text encoding, direction, and timing are handled carefully.

Arabic-specific checks
- Save the file as UTF-8. Other encodings can turn Arabic into boxes or unreadable characters.
- Use a player or editor that supports right-to-left text shaping. The SRT itself does not choose a font.
- Keep cues short enough to read. Line breaks and cue length depend on the player or editor.
- Review mixed Arabic and Latin text, numbers, names, and punctuation in the actual destination tool.
- Check timing against the original audio; a perfect spelling file that arrives late is still a bad subtitle.

Separate subtitles or burn them in?
A sidecar SRT is editable and can be turned on or off. Burn-in makes the words part of the image and works everywhere, but corrections require a new video export. Keep the SRT even after burning it in.
